This year, though hard to do, we broke the tradition of spending the Fourth of July with my side of the family. Our neighbor Scott Westering does the fireworks for the Freedom Fest on the military base. He has asked us for a few years to join them and he finally talked us into this year (the boys were more excited to hang out with his son Kellen than they were the fireworks). We were in great company, the festivities were fun and the fireworks were AMAZING! Kevin was thrilled to help with the fireworks and the boys and I enjoyed our front row seats to the show! Next year maybe we can talk our entire family into a new tradition?!?! There is just something neat about celebrating our FREEDOM on the military base...we wouldn't have our FREEDOM without those that so graciously serve our country...for this we are thankful!
The boys did get to each pick out a firework (at our friend Josh and Jennifer Schaapveld's firework stand). We knew we weren't going to be home for the 4th so we did them the night before. Nana and Papa came down to enjoy the show!
