Last night Konner was reading a Bible story called "Born Again" about having new life in Jesus. The story explains in a "kid way" that being "Born Again" means sin moves out and Jesus moves in!
Konner has always been my "question" boy (he asked Jesus into his heart when he was five), so it is no surprise that he asked "Does Kaleb have Jesus in his heart." Kaleb quickly answered "yes!" I asked Kaleb when he asked Jesus into his heart and he said "last Tuesday." I knew this wasn't the case and that Kaleb was just trying to come up with a good answer to Konner's question. I talked with him a little more and we came to the conclusion that Kaleb wanted to ask Jesus into his heart. It was getting late and we wanted to make it special, so we decided to wait and do it the next day so we could celebrate as a family! Waiting until the next day also gave me more time to talk about this special decision with Kaleb and allowed him to gain an even better understanding.
So today we talked about it a few times and tonight we read a Salvation book (that I had gotten from our church over a year ago, and held onto specifically for this) AND our sweet little boy prayed and asked Jesus into his heart (I get teary eyed just writing this). Right when he finished praying, he said "Am I God's son?" I told him YES, and reminded him that he was now part of God's family and will have eternal life in heaven. I asked him how it felt to have Jesus in his heart and he smiled big and said "good." After that we asked him how he wanted to celebrate and he said, he wanted to play football...so that is what we did!
To all who recieve Him, to those who believed in His name,
He gave the right to become children of God.
